Step 1 Eligibility Check

Age

  • 17.5-47 (Must Attest before 48th Birthday)

Nationality

Be a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, holder of a dual UK/other nationality or have been a Commonwealth citizen from birth (with ‘right to work’ immigration status).

Whether or not you were born in the United Kingdom, you should have resided there for the 5 years immediately preceding your application. However, candidates with a minimum of 3 years will be considered.

Candidates applying for this role need to hold a British Passport before starting the selection process.

Qualifications

For unqualified entry, no formal qualifications are required. However, you must be able to swim.

For qualified entry you must meet the following criteria:

You should have at least a year’s suitable experience in bar work & silver service in a hotel, restaurant, club or industrial catering establishment.You will also need one of the following:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Food and Drink Service (with silver service module);

In addition to: Technical Certificate Level 2 Award in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food and Beverages Service)

  • NVQ Level 3 in Food and Drink Service (with silver service module);

In addition to: Technical Certificate Level 3 Award in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food and Beverages Service), or

  • BTEC Hotel and Catering Management; or any other appropriate recognised civilian qualification.

All candidates for this role must be able to swim.

Applicants for the role of Air & Ground Steward must be within the height range of 5ft 2" to 6ft 6".
